# Ayurvedic Daily Routine (Dinacharya) for Balanced Living
In Ayurveda, health is not a static state but a daily practice of alignment with nature. **Dinacharya**, the Ayurvedic daily routine, is a set of morning and evening self-care rituals designed to cleanse the senses, balance the doshas, and promote sustained vitality throughout the day.
## 1. Wake Up with the Sun (Brahma Muhurta)
Ayurveda recommends waking up during the *Brahma Muhurta* (approximately 1.5 hours before sunrise). At this time, the atmosphere is filled with pure, peaceful energy (Sattva), making it ideal for meditation, gentle stretching, and mental clarity.
## 2. Sense Cleansing & Oral Hygiene
After waking, perform these essential cleansing practices:
- **Tongue Scraping (Jihwa Prakshalana):** Use a copper or stainless steel scraper to gently remove toxins (Ama) accumulated overnight. This improves taste perception and stimulates digestion.
- **Oil Pulling (Gandusha):** Swish 1 tablespoon of organic sesame or coconut oil in your mouth for 5–15 minutes. This strengthens gums, whitens teeth, and pulls fat-soluble toxins from the oral cavity.
## 3. Hydrate and Kindle the Digestive Fire (Agni)
Drink a glass of warm water first thing in the morning. This flushes the kidneys, stimulates bowel movements, and prepares the digestive system for the day without extinguishing your *Agni* (digestive fire).
## 4. Self-Massage (Abhyanga)
Massage your body with warm sesame oil (or coconut oil in summer). *Abhyanga* nourishes the skin, improves circulation, calms the nervous system, and slows down aging. Wash off in a warm shower.
